Food Services

Our Food Services Program provides an opportunity for our students to learn the full benefits of healthy eating such as: preparing fresh vegetables grown on location in the greenhouse or from local farms.

The objectives and goals of the program are as follows:

The students will
  • Practice farm to table production whenever possible
  • Prepare fresh healthy food items
  • Utilize their 5 senses
  • Learn about nutrition
  • Learn about basic economics
  • Learn about plants and farming
  • Become aware of the direct consequences of food choices on our health and environment

Food Services is an individualized, goal-based program that reinforces basic cooking principles through the integration of the core subject areas. Student participants in the Food Services Program learn about nutrition, general cooking safety practices and food handling procedures. The acquisition of these skills prepares students for independent daily living.
